Dras is a hill station in the Kargil district of the union territory of Ladakh in India. It is on the NH 1 between Zoji La pass and Kargil town. Drass is "The Second Coldest Inhabited Place In The World" and Coldest place in India.
Day

On Arrival Srinagar airport you will be greeted by our executive. You will be taken to Hotel for Check-in. Evening you will be taken for Shikara rides followed by shopping in local market.

Day

Today you will explore Srinagar. Visit the world-famous Mughal Gardens - Nishat Bagh (The garden of pleasure), Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love), and Chasme Shahi Garden, and also pay visit to the Shankaracharya Temple. Overnight stay at Srinagar.

Day

After the breakfast leave for day excursion to Sonmarg, which is a beautiful drive from Srinagar. On the way, you will stop at many beautiful spots. Continue driving to Sonamarg 2690 Mtrs (Meadow of Gold). One can enjoy horse riding to visit Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains round the year. Sonamarg is also known as Gateway to Ladakh. In the evening return to Srinagar for overnight stay at hotel. About Sonamarg : The ‘Meadow of Gold,’ Sonamarg boasts scenic beauty of nature. Sonamarg’s top attraction is Thajiwas Glacier, where can either trek or take a pony to reach. Apart from this, Sonamarg is known as the base for many treks to remote villages like Naranag and alpine lakes like Vishansar and Krishansar. It is an ideal place for trout fishing and river rafting as well. Overnight stay at Sonamarg.

Early morning you will check out from Sonamarg Hotel and proceed to Drass. The tours of Drass compulsorily include a visit to the famous Drass War Memorial which is built to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the India-Pakistan War in 1999. There is a Brigade War Valley that also turned to be the space to commemorate the lives and dedication of Indian soldiers during Kargil War. Located at a height of 3,300 metres or 10,800 on NH1, Drass is most popularly known for being the second coldest inhabited place in the world, right after the village of Oymyakon in Russia, also making it the coldest place in India. Sitting right in the middle of Drass Valley, this town is about 56 kilometres away from Kargil, the town known for its political and historical importance. Often known as the “Gateway to Ladakh”, this town is the first after Zoji La Pass. Overnight stay at Drass.

Today you will leave for Kargil. Kargil is one of the two districts (the other being Leh) & the joint capital of Ladakh, the newly created Union Territory of India. It is located at an altitude of 8,80 feet above sea level on the banks of the Suru River. A tourist spending their holidays in Kargil will easily fall in love with its landscape, which has plenty of contrast. There are valleys, lakes & mountains, along with monasteries which offer lovely sightseeing opportunities. Some of the most famous places in Kargil like Suru Valley lend it its marvellous beauty. Starting from Kargil, it stretches all the way to Penzi La watershed. Surrounded by mountains from all sides, it is a place of heavenly beauty with orchards of mulberry, apple & apricot trees dotting its landscape. There are also historical places like Kargil War Memorial which was built by the Indian Army to commemorate the Kargil War, which occurred between India & Pakistan in 1999. The main attraction is the Sandstone Wall on which is mentioned the names of all the martyrs of the Indian Army. Another historical sightseeing place in Kargil is Mulbekh Monastery, which actually consists of two gompas: Serdung Gompa & Rgaldan-se Gompa. The monastery is believed to have been built around 800 years back. What is fascinating is the height and location of the monastery, as it is located atop a crag at almost 656 feet. Evening return to Drass and overnight stay at Drass.

Early morning you will be taken back to Srinagar. You will be drop at Srinagar airport. Your Tour end here.

It is also the headquarters of the Kargil district. It is the second-largest city in Ladakh after Leh. Kargil is located 204 kilometres to the east of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, and 234 kilometres to the west of Leh.
